In China!!

I arrived in China last night only to be told that it would be 2 degrese!! It was pretty lonely and odd while we stood at the airport in a Aussie group around all these chinese men offering us a taxi for 30 mins before the driver arrived to take us and the smog is so thick it almost knocks you out!(if the cars dont first!!).
We finally got to the school after an awkward convo where we were all trying to understand the driver!! We were told to announce ourselves! and i quickly met my family.
I forgot the nemes of the parents but the girl is Selina.
The father is hilarious. He wants to learn english so he picks up everything and makes me say it. He also keeps giving me food. The mother speaks no english except 'sit down' and is always giving me water and making me sit down.
Selina is very friendly, she speaks only english to me and the parents will clap if i say something in chinese!
I am looking foward to tomorrow where i can speak chinese all day and learn about the school!
Love you and miss you all!
Sarah

Hi Sarah!
Glad to hear you touched down ok! 2 degrees! Ouch! Good to know your host family is nice - even if the english is a little spare. And being clapped sounds fun - encouraging! Have fun at school, and hope the Chinese comes easily. Post again soon... We miss you, love Sim1

Hi Sarah

We've sent you emails but it seems you can't access those either. Sounds like you're having an awesome time - we're having fun too, tho the temps are a bit opposite to yours!!! Seen lots of great beaches & cute little towns, but the houses are sooooo expensive.

Hi Scarey. Been great travelling down the coast. Sooo hot!! Was in Byron Bay yesterday with all the schoolies ... they all seemed so well behaved ... but then we wern't there at night!! Mum wants to move up here straight away... how would you like to complete your VCE by correspondance from the beautiful warm, white sand beaches of Northen NSW???? (Just joking!!) Mum starting to get a suntan .. bit like a Zebra though!!

Love MooMoo and fatshit!!

We are meant to be having a bbq here today but its wet in Sydney and a bit "thundery" so we will have to see what happens.

Hey, today was -7 and it was beautiful!! the sky was so blue and fresh (no smog)
Today we went shopping with David and his homestay and her boyfriend. We bought soooo many things!! and it was so fun to haggle.
Tomorrow we will go for another hotpot dinner with the Australian students (my family had hotpot tonight) - it should be good!! - i dont think it will be as cold tomorrow :)
on tuesday we will go to the forbidden city and tiananmen square :) I cant wait - but it is meant to snow so it may be quite miserable.
I have had all of the food here - everything that comes before me i have tried and i have liked most of it - they serve dessert and main course at the same time so I have beef with pumpkin covered in toffee (it is soo delicious)the best thing by far is Tanghulu which are small crab apples covered in toffee on a stick, yum!
I am soo envious of the heat!! grr i want the sun :) but the house is very warm so it is ok. Theya re giving me banlangen everyday so i dont get sick (it is like some herbal hot drink that literally tastes like crap!!) but meh. and every toilet in this bloody country is a squatting one with no paper so i have to take paper everywhere!!
My chinese listening is getting awesome and the WUSHU (martial arts) teacher only speaks to me because he thinks I am better than the others (how wrong he is!) my speaking is coming along but we are really doing the english thing here - it is really hard - but we do make a strong point at practising chinese. (tai gui le)
I love it here - i really take the time to appreciate the small things - david - we are coming here one day - you would love it!!
Mum - remeber that cloudy days dont stop the rays (and i haven't gotten your emails sorry try another address i_am_here_woot@yahoo.com.au ; outback_jillaroo_1@hotmail.com ) lol
Miss you and love you all ,
再见 xo
